EAT & BE WELL

Health starts on the inside
nutrition-info-online

There are plenty of healthy options when it comes to pasta such as gluten free, ancient grain, buckwheat, bean and vegetable. The healthiest being vegetables like zucchini, cucumber, and sweet potatoes sliced into long curly spirals. Known as “zoodles” instead of noodles.

Our favorite pasta recipe is Avocado-Basil Zucchini Noodles With Chile-Lime Shrimp and Corn courtesy of Inspiralized.

Hungry? Sometimes busy lives, and hectic schedules have you reaching for a bag of chips or a candy bar to curb that appetite. They are convenient and tasty for sure, but are lacking in nutrients your body needs to stay healthy.

Our suggestion is to reach for fresh fruit or veggies instead. Raw fruits and vegetables are loaded with vitamins A & C, they are naturally delicious and curb that appetite until you can eat a regular meal. Most fruits are best raw, cooking them causes nutrient loss. There are several vegetables that should be cooked before eating to release the biggest benefits, asparagus, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, and spinach. The rest can be enjoyed raw.

We love this juice recipe and think you will to.

GOLDEN GLOW ELIXIR by SHANNON LEPARSKI

INGREDIENTS:
2 apples, any variation
4 small or 2 large oranges, peel removed
1 lemon, peel or no peel, your preference (chop ends off with peel)
2-3 inch knob of fresh ginger, peeled (adjust to liking)
2 inch knob of fresh turmeric, peeled, or 1/2-1 tablespoon powder (adjust as needed)
2 cups cold water
1 handful of ice (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a high speed blender, blend all ingredients until smooth, adding extra water if needed.
A high powered decent blender will turn this into a smooth juice. If you would rather juice the ingredients to make it even smoother, go right ahead! I like to keep all the fiber and nutrients in but juicing the ingredients is just as good.
Enjoy!
